Introducing verifications for children on our mobile app

At Metrobus, we are pleased to be able to offer discounts to children and families. These have been available on our app and our key card for many years.

It’s really important that we ensure that only those who are entitled to the discounts are using them. This helps us protect children from having to pay more in the future, which we know is important to you. As a result, we will be introducing a new in-app verification process. 

How will it work?

From 1st July 2024 you can get verified before purchasing your ticket. When viewing tickets available to purchase, those that require you to be verified are highlighted by a yellow banner “Verification Required”. You can now tap on it to open the verification process and then follow the steps on screen. This will involve taking or uploading a photo of the child/young person being verified, and providing evidence that they are aged under 16. The verification is normally complete within 24 hours, but at busier times may take longer. You only need to verify your status once – after it has been done you can generally continue to purchase child tickets without re-verification.

·       BusID/Metrobus child key card
·       Passport
·       Birth Certificate
·       Citizencard
·       Driving Licence (for people aged 17 and 18 where the child entitlement exists up to that age)
