Child Tickets

Children aged under 5 travel free, subject to a maximum of three per adult. Child fares will be charged for any additional under 5s.

Children aged 5-13 can purchase single and return tickets at half the adult rate at all times. 14 and 15 year-olds travelling to or from school in uniform will be charged half fare for single and return tickets. 14 and 15 year-olds may also obtain half fare single and return tickets at other times by showing one of the following forms of identification:

  • Metrobus child key card (free from Crawley and Redhill travel shops by showing suitable photo ID)
  • 14/15 Citizencard. These are available here.
  • Transport for London child Oyster card
  • Passport
  • Birth certificate
  • Brighton & Hove Bus ID card
  • Arriva or Stagecoach 14/15 ID card

Children living in West Sussex can apply for a '3 in 1' card here.  

3 in 1 card holders can purchase single, return and weekly 'point-to-point' tickets on journeys starting and/or finishing in West Sussex at half the usual child rate, as well as Crawley or Horsham area Metrorider or Metrovoyager passes at half the usual child prices.


Student Travel

Surrey

Students aged between 16 and 18 and living in Surrey can apply for a Surrey Student FareCard, which enables the purchase of discounted tickets on the bus, online or from our Redhill travel shop.

Surrey Student Card holders can purchase half rate single, return, weekly ‘point-to-point’ tickets on journeys starting and/or finishing in Surrey, as well as child rate 1 day, 1 week, 4 week, 13 week and annual Surrey and Redhill & Reigate Metroriders.

West Sussex

Students aged between 16 and 18 and living in West Sussex can apply for a student 3in1 card, which enables the purchase of discounted tickets on the bus, online or from our Crawley travel shop.

Student 3in1 card holders can purchase half rate single, return and weekly 'point-to-point' tickets on journeys starting and/or finishing in West Sussex, as well as child rate 1 day, 1 week, 4 week, 13 week and annual Crawley and Horsham Metroriders, and Metrovoyager passes.

East Sussex

Under 19s living in East Sussex are able get a card which allows the purchase a Freedom ticket from the driver on routes 270 & 291 for £14 per week, which is accepted for travel on most buses in East Sussex and throughout on routes 270 & 291. 14-19 year olds need a Choice ID card to buy one and don't even need to be attending school or college.
